This year, for one of our service projects our membership elected to undertake a monthly venture for our elementary students - what better way to do this than to be one of the donors to St. Mary's Caring, Inc. A community based non-profit founded in 1993 whose primary mission is to serve breakfast and lunch, free of charge, Monday to Saturday to anyone going through a tough time. During July 2017, 9300 meals were provided and 9133 meals in August 2017.
We are working to support the "Feed the Families" program where weekly groceries would be provided to 30 of the neediest families hand-picked by the school principals at three Title 1 Schools in our community. Each month our Administrative Vice President will receive a specific item from the coordinator at St. Mary's Caring Inc. and will engage the members assistance in fulfilling the donation goal.
In August 2017, we supplied 26 boxes of Tuna Helper and 53 Cans of Tuna to the Feed the Families program.
For September 2017, we supplied the "Feed the Families" program with 12 giant sized jars of Pasta Sauce and 14 large bags of Sugar. Please note that containers should be in either a plastic jars or cans, no glass as they break too easily.
For October 2017, we supplied 15 large boxes of stuffing to the "Feed the Families" program to be used in Thanksgiving baskets for families.
The kitchen wants to extend it's appreciation and gratitude for the donations, but because of the overwhelming response they do not require any items for the months of November - January. We will resume collecting items in February.
For February & March 2018 we will be collecting "Paper Products" (paper towels; toilet paper; Styrofoam plates and cups; napkins) NO plastic silverware!
If you would like to join with us, send us a message on the "Contact Us" page and our Administrative Vice President (AVP) would connect with you. Donation items can also be dropped off during our monthly social (confirm the date, time and location of the social on our events page).
Stay tuned for future updates on our Service Projects!
